The Disciple on a mission

To spread OSHO's Message & Vision

Swami Shailendra Saraswati

Embodied as Omkar, the Bodiless Param Guru

An Experience of Osho’s Presence!

The presence of the bodiless True Guru is of the nature of Omkar (the primordial sound). We connect with him by immersing ourselves in samadhi. He is the embodiment of sound and light — luminous music itself. What is being taught here through Surati Samadhi and Nirati Samadhi is the path to connect with that subtle, divine presence of the True Guru. All True Gurus ultimately merge into that one Supreme Being. There, no drops remain separate or isolated. It is not that the drop of Mahavira is separate, the drop of Buddha is separate, or the drop of Osho is separate. The drops are no longer drops; all have merged into the ocean and have become the ocean itself.

About

Among Osho’s eleven siblings, Swami Shailendra Saraswati is the tenth — a famous spiritual teacher whose work in meditation, self-awareness, and inner transformation has touched thousands of seekers across India and abroad. Deeply rooted in Osho’s vision, he has devoted his life to making ancient meditative wisdom relevant to the challenges of modern living.

Born and educated in the small town of Gadarwara in Madhya Pradesh, Swamiji displayed academic brilliance from an early age. He secured the top rank in the university during his B.Sc. studies at Sagar University and later earned his MBBS degree from Jabalpur Medical College in 1979.

His spiritual journey, however, had begun much earlier. As a teenager, he became an initiated disciple of Osho and joined a kirtan mandali in Gujarat, helping spread Osho’s message among the masses. From 1979 to 1981, he lived at the Osho Commune in Pune, immersing himself in meditation and spiritual practice. In May 1979, he married Ma Amrit Priya, who would later become his close spiritual collaborator.

In 1982, he moved to Rajneeshpuram in Oregon, USA, where he remained in Osho’s presence until 1985. After returning to India, he served as Chief Medical Officer at the Orient Paper Mills Hospital in Amlai, Madhya Pradesh, from 1987 to 1999. During this period, he also spent time once again at the Pune Commune between August 1989 and September 1990, during the final phase of Osho’s life.

Swamiji and Ma Amrit Priya have played a significant role in the publication and translation of numerous Osho books, helping preserve and disseminate his teachings to a wider audience. A profound turning point came in April 1998, when Swamiji experienced what he describes as a direct glimpse of eternal truth. Following this inner awakening, he began conducting meditation camps, self-realization programs, and stress-management workshops, gradually emerging as a sought-after speaker and spiritual guide.

For over two decades, he has been leading meditation and self-awareness programs throughout India, Nepal, and internationally. From January 2005 onward, his discourses were telecast on every alternate day on Aastha Channel for nearly twelve years. These talks offered deep and accessible interpretations of spiritual classics such as the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Nirvana Upanishad. His teachings are now widely available through books, audio recordings, pen drives, videos, and digital platforms.

In 2019, his work entered a new phase with the launch of Osho Fragrance — an initiative dedicated to making Osho’s lesser-known meditation techniques and transformative inner practices accessible to ordinary seekers. The project seeks to bring pearls from Osho’s vast ocean of wisdom into everyday life, helping individuals cultivate awareness, inner balance, and spiritual depth.

The COVID-19 pandemic marked yet another evolution in his work. Beginning in March 2020, Swamiji successfully transitioned meditation camps and spiritual gatherings to online platforms, enabling thousands of participants from around the world to join virtual retreats and satsangs from their homes.

In recent years, his podcasts have gained remarkable popularity across national television networks and hundreds of YouTube channels. On the question-and-answer platform Quora, his responses have been read more than ten million times, reflecting the growing global interest in his insights on meditation, consciousness, and inner growth. Alongside Ma Amrit Priya, Swamiji has also revived the tradition of Osho songs and meditative music, which have become deeply cherished among seekers.

Today, Swami Shailendra Saraswati continues to bridge spirituality and contemporary life — blending the precision of a doctor, the sensitivity of a mystic, and the meditative vision of Osho into a living path for modern seekers.
